About GOV.

Our organization is rooted in the humanitarian value of “service to mankind, is service to God.” In the first quarter of 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic in India was at its peak, a few like-minded Overseas Indians came together and brainstormed on how they could help the needy who do not have access to proper healthcare, PPE kits, Oxygen-cylinder and ventilator supply, and medicines. Global Odia Volunteers (GOV) thus came into existence at this juncture of the pandemic. Since then, GOV has grown from a squad of five to a 250+ volunteer-driven organization with representation in 10+ countries who are willing to do their best to help the needy in Odisha and India.

The past two years have been challenging for one and all across the globe. The dreaded contagious disease COVID 19 has shrouded the entire world. Despite the pain it has inflicted, we strived to defend back and liberate ourselves away from its shackles. Governments at state and national levels, health care and the front line professionals have been working tirelessly to succeed against this invisible and unpredictable pathogen. Many from the community have been volunteering to help the people in need in any way they can. Global Odia Volunteers is one such group of volunteers that came together. Since its humble beginning, the team has been growing at an accelerated pace. The group has left no stone unturned to make a difference in the lives of people who have reached out for help. As a testament to our success story, the ones whom we helped during the COVID-19 pandemic, have volunteered to join us and contribute their best to the humanitarian cause. The group takes inspiration from the Odia adage, "Jiba Seba, Dibya Seba", which translates to "Service to life is service to Divine". We have incessantly served people who look for COVID beds, hospitals, oxygen cylinders, doctors or any emergency info in any city of India by coordinating with its resources across the globe to assist those in distress. As the name suggests, this is a trans-global group whose volunteers live around the world in countries such as the USA, Canada, UK, UAE, Nigeria, Australia, Japan, India etc., working hand-in-hand to serve the needy with the best of their abilities.
